Billings Heading To Northeastern

The WolfPack are very proud to announce that Cameron Billings has been accepted to Northeastern University. Located in Boston, Mass, Northeastern is one of the top schools in the country. This is a tremendous accomplishment for Cameron.
" Cameron was a very good player for us last season," stated coach Ken Uher. "He is just so intelligent and you could always count on him to make the smart play. Obviously he is a hard worker on and off the ice as you don't get accepted to such a prestigious school without putting in the work in the classroom. He has his work cut out for him with the competition he will be facing, but I would never doubt his chances as he is relentless when it comes to going after what he wants."
Cameron states " To be coached by Coach Ken on the Long Island Wolfpack was a privilege. I've been playing hockey for many years and Coach Ken was definitely a coach like no other. He knew every aspect of the game and had great drills and teaching techniques to teach players the game and individual skills the right way. I learned things about the game of hockey I had never known, he knows it all and he knows how to teach it. He was tough when he needed to be but also fun and supportive of players. Before playing for Coach Ken, I was nervous about making mistakes when I played, like many players are, but this changed in me like many other things during the season. He knew that hockey is a game of mistakes and made sure that we knew that. He promoted confidence on the ice and made sure players weren't afraid or beat themselves up for making mistakes. He connected with each player on a personal level and pushed them to their full potential, but was also supportive and understanding. I was a little skeptical of the level of play in the IJHL considering how new the junior league was and how poorly coaches from other junior leagues talk about it. My skepticism was immediately turned into a sense of awe during the first game of the season when I truly saw the speed and the level of play that the game was played at. This hockey was very fast paced, very physical and very structured. The teams in this league were well coached and comprised of great hockey players from the United States and even foreign countries such as Canada and Sweden. I could not have asked for a better junior league to be a part of. The IJHL really brought me to play at my full potential and to even strive to go past it. Playing against kids from countries all over the world was a great experience that makes the IJHL unique and more competitive than it's counterpart junior leagues. I've watched many games from other junior leagues and after just the first game in the IJHL I knew that not only was the IJHL comparable to other junior leagues but surpassed these other leagues in the tenacity, speed and physical aspects of the game. The IJHL is a great league to be a part of if you're looking to take your hockey to the next level."
The entire WolfPack organization would like to wish Cameron and his family the very best of luck in the future.

Weissler Commits To Bryn Athyn College

The WolfPack are proud to announce that Ray Weissler has committed to Bryn Athyn College. This is a tremendous accomplishment for Ray as he realizes his dream of playing college hockey. Coach Ken Uher states "Ray came a long way last season and was easily one of our hardest workers. I am so proud of him. His hard work and dedication is paying off, and I am so happy that a great kid from a wonderful family is moving on to the college level".
Bryn Athyn is a fairly new program, and they will be playing a DI club schedule next season as they look to build a very strong program. Head Coach Chris Puscian said of Ray "I did have the pleasure of meeting him, and the impression that I got from Ray is that he is very excited about playing hockey and attending Bryn Athyn next season. He is a very likable person and should fit in well with our existing core of returning players. We feel Ray has the ability to do well both in the classroom and on the ice. I am encouraged by his strong work ethic. We will be watching him early to see just how far up in the line-up he will be able to play and I expect him to place high on the roster."
"I have always wanted to play college hockey," said Weissler, "and I knew the best route was through junior hockey. After one year with the Long Island WolfPack I was able to reach my goal. There is no doubt I wouldn't have gotten this opportunity without the Wolfpack and the IJHL. Coach Ken Uher's dedication to the program and each member of the team was incredible. I was very lucky to play for such a great coach and with such great teammates. The WolfPack helped develop me as a hockey player and a person, and have fun while doing it, and I wish them the best of luck in the future."
The entire WolfPack organization would like to wish Ray and his family the very best of luck.

Grgich excels at College Of Charleston!!!

Former WolfPack defenseman Mike Grgich had a very strong second half of the season at the College of Charleston. Mike signed on with the Pack this year and had an outstanding first half of the season. He was picked as an all-star in the IJHL, but after some heavy recruiting decided that he would head off to school and play for Charleston. Coach Ken Uher stated "Mike was a tremendous player for us this year, and he quickly became a leader both on and off the ice. Losing him was tough and we were unable to replace everything he brought to the table. However we fully supported his decision and we are very happy that he had a great finish to the season at college." In only eight games at Charleston Mike had 5 goals and 1 assist, and helped lead them to an 8-0 record and a spot in the playoffs. They won their first playoff game before being knocked out in their next game.
"This past fall I had the pleasure of playing for the Long Island WolfPack," said Grgich."I am currently now at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. Unfortunately I was not able to finish out the second half of the season with Coach Ken and the guys. However, during this short time, my experiences and growth as a hockey player was substantial. Going into the season I was expecting a team no different than many of the other Junior programs I previously played for. I was quickly proven wrong. Coach Ken was one of the first individuals that taught me how to play hockey and have fun. Coach Ken’s style of teaching was unique. He gave his players time to develop. This style of hockey brought my game to the next level and gave me the confidence I needed to play to my fullest ability. In addition to this, the competition and skill level of the IJHL prepared me to play at a much faster pace. The experiences and growth that I took away from the WolfPack were amazing. Over all, Coach Ken and the guys became a second family. I know the organization is still young, but I am looking forward to seeing where the WolfPack is headed. In addition, I believe that the organization is one to keep an eye on and that the future of the program is bright.
The entire WolfPack organization would like to congratulate Mike on all of his success, and we wish him and his family the very best of luck.

KATZ COMMITS TO TRINITY COLLEGE

The Long Island WolfPack are proud to announce that Evan Katz has committed to Trinity College for the 2011-2012 season. Located in Hartford, Connecticut, Trinity is an NCAA DIII program and member of the NESCAC.
Evan had an outstanding rookie season with the Wolfpack last year, totaling 33 points with 18 goals and 15 assists. A strong, physical player, his two-way style of play had him contributing at both ends of the ice. Coach Ken Uher stated "he was such an important part of our team last season, and his size and skill really had people taking notice". Evan is a hard working, talented player who also showed a mean streak when he felt there was a need for it. "I have known Evan for a few years now and he has always been a very coachable player with an outstanding work ethic. As gifted as he is on the ice he is a better person off ice, just a great personality and a real love for the game. He comes from a tremendous family who have done a great job in raising a very respectful young man with the right values and priorities", stated Coach Uher.
Evan played his youth hockey on Long Island in the LIAHL, and also was a member of the very strong St. Anthony High School club. He is an outstanding student who will be a pre-dental major at Trinity.
The WolfPack would like to extend their congratulations to Evan and the entire Katz family and wishes him the very best as he heads to Trinity College to embark on his academic and college hockey career.
